Lesson Elements:
· Each lesson includes the following elements:
· Objective and Standard: Each lesson is connected to
the Common Core Curricular Standards and teaches a specific and measurable
objective.
· Vocabulary: Math vocabulary related to the lesson is
introduced with an age-appropriate definition and printable word wall.
· Extension and Intervention: Teachers are provided with
suggestions for extending the learning for students who master concepts quickly
and intervening to help students who struggle with the material.
· Pre-activity: Often related to the theme, the
pre-activity is an optional activity to keep the learning interesting and make
it multi-sensory and multi-disciplinary.
· Mini-lesson: Each lesson is introduced with an
engaging hook followed by a clear explanation of the relevant math concepts,
step-by-step instructions for problem-solving, and a variety of examples.
· Guided Practice: Lessons are accompanied by additional
examples and real-world problems that teachers can facilitate in whole groups,
giving students a chance to master the concepts and problems introduced.
· Exit Ticket: An optional formative assessment, the
exit ticket allows teachers to determine if students have met the lesson
objectives following the mini-lesson.
· Learning Centers: Ideas for optional learning centers
are provided to teachers, along with the materials and instructions for
facilitating these activities.
· Workbook Pages: The student book contains two pages of
aesthetically pleasing and engagingly presented practice problems for students
to complete independently.
Materials and Homework: The accompanying USB contains a variety of
printables, games, posters, homework, and other materials to supplement the lessons.
